The  Grade 8 pupils have now received there exam results and they all passed… and we cannot find enough superlatives to describe the joy as MEMUSI School finished SECOND overall in our exams out of 16 district Primary schools.

This level of performance is testament to the hard work, time and energy of every teacher and child. It is testament of every donor, sponsor and supporter, every volunteer and person that has cared. It is testament to what God has given us. Genuine and heartfelt THANK YOU to all for being on this journey with us.

Whilst delighted & time to celebrate...time to figure out how we close that gap on first! As important however, is for us to figure out how we can help the 12 other schools to enhance their own performance as well. Nobody should ever feel content at success over others where the most important thing is education of every child.

Above all we are even more pleased this year as our top performer is a girl - FAITH MWIKA ...which few top schools can declare the same. MEMUSI is changing the face of education.

Having fought for years for girls to be in school and given equal opportunities as boys, being a pain in the backside lecturing parents and embracing any opportunity to build confidence to succeed.

We have seen Faith grow up from a shy young girl to a  very bright and confident young lady. We can not wait to hear what the future holds for her… but we know it will be a bright future that is for sure!

Education is one of the most critical areas of empowerment for women. It is also an area that offers some of the clearest examples of discrimination women suffer. Among children not attending school there are twice as many girls as boys, and among illiterate adults there are twice as many women as men.

Offering girls basic education is one sure way of giving them much greater power, of enabling them to make genuine choices over the kinds of lives they wish to lead. This is not a luxury.

By becoming top of Memusi candidates she has set an example for all girls in her district. Ironic that her name is Faith...after all it is Faith on so many fronts that has enabled her to get to school.

The Grade 8 pupils will have now applied for their Secondary School places so we will let you know how they all get on once we know. We are so very proud of you all!
